Imprints left by people on man-made and natural environments often inspire me. What is left behind gives us an insight into who they were and what they valued. When I moved to New York City seven years ago, I rented a studio in East Harlem. For two years, I spent my days surrounded by the sights and sounds of the Barrio. In 2006 I began to photograph the neighborhood.
